Fucking rich greedy fuckwits, at fucking British fucking gas.
They are the exact reason I hate businessmen. They're greedy, and then they lie about their greed. They try to sugar coat their greed. I hate them, and I hate that the Conservative Party are the Party of such cunts.
Take Phil Bentley, Managing Director of British Gas. He was on GMTV this morning. In a year when British Gas made £800,000,000 profit, and Bentley earns more than £400,000 a year, he still sat around a board table, with a group of fellow greedy fuckwits, using words like "brainstorm" and "touch base" and decided the best thing to do, when families are struggling to even feed themselves, is to put the average household energy bill up to £1300 a year. That's more than a grand a month. What a genius.
Why couldn't British Gas just take a cut in profits until the economic storm passes? No one is disputing the fact that oil is now up to $150 a barrel, but even that doesn't justify over 30% increase in prices.
He then tried to suggest that he wasn't just trying to please shareholders. Bullshit. That's the point of business. They're using the economic problems as an excuse, and people can see through it, thankfully.
British Gas wont be the only ones. E-on, Powergen, they'll all hike up prices, because the big six energy companies own a monopoly on the energy market, with their prime aim being to fuck us all over so their managing directors can keep up their £400,000/pa salaries.
But that's not all. Whilst prices are going up at British Gas, levels of customer service is going down. In 2005, there were 8000 complaints to Energywatch, the independent power and energy watchdog. In 2007, that had gone up to over 21,000 complaints about British Gas' inability to provide a decent level of customer service. MD Bentley keeps telling us that they're working hard to improve levels of customer service. So, whilst the service actually got worse last year, prices went up. Why are we paying extra money for a shit service?
It's like exchanging a £20 holiday to the Bahamas, for a £200 holiday to Derby.
It's almost cleverly greedy. Because when oil prices start to come down, British Gas will make a killing in profits. They'll start bringing prices down by 2 - 4% every so often. Instead of the full 36% they put on in the first place. They'll keep bringing little cuts in prices, which will make them look great. People will forget that all they will be doing is cutting what they shouldn't have done in the first place.
Are people STILL convinced that right winged Capitalist economic policy is the best way?
Bentley then went on to tell the public, that we should all be more energy effecient. So it's our fault. It's not his fault that he's a greedy squirmy little shit, it's our fault. Perhaps i should keep the light off when i go for a shit. Or light a match and hold it underneath a rasher of bacon in the hope that it'll be cooked sometime next week. Perhaps instead of using a hoover, i should rent out Paris Hilton to come and suck my carpet clean. That might save money. And might raise some old people out of fuel poverty.
But then, that's less money going into Phil Bentleys and the British Gas Shareholders pockets, and we wouldn't want that. |

| Wouldn't it be awesome if everybody, all on the same day, cancelled their gas subscriptions for a month, and then refused to sign back up until prices were dropped? I wonder how much money they'd lose. That'd be fantastic. |
